The "HELP" link allows you to access help on the Marin County Government Web Site. The help link is available on the home page or on the left-hand side, colored navigation bar on all other web pages. (To see a sample page, click on the links below.) Click the "Help" link to access help topics for the Marin County Government web site. This link opens another web browser so that you can view the help while still keeping the Web Site browser available for reference.
Once you are in the help system, you will see that the window is opened in a split pane fashion. That is, you will have information in a pane on the left, which includes the table of contents, index and search tabs and in the right pane you will see the actual help text that pertains to the selection made from the contents, index, or search list on the left. If you want to see a full screen display of just the help text without the left pane visible, click the "hide" button on the upper right. To re-display the left hand navigation pane, click the "show" button on the upper right side of the window.
You will notice that when you first open the help window, the "contents" of the help system will be presented in the left pane. At the top of the pane you will notice additional tabs for "index" and for "search". When you are using the "Contents" tab, click on any "+" symbols preceding the books to expand the list to show all of the related topics. To view the help for any of the topics, click on the topic name and the related help text will appear in the right pane of the help window. If you want to see an alphabetic index listing all of the help topics available, simply click the "Index" tab . If you want to search the text of all of the help topics for a text string, use the "Search" tab. When using the "Index" or "Search" Tabs, enter the text sting for the information you are looking for and press the enter key on your keyboard. The topic matching most closely to the text will be highlighted when you are on the "index" tab. A list of all pages containing the text will appear if you enter a text string on the "search" tab.
