Naturalist-led Outings & Environmental Education Program

Naturalist-led Outings (See POS Newsletter)

About the Walks
These programs cover a variety of topics; some are quite specific, others are more general, but we never fail to take a moment to marvel at whatever natural wonders we encounter.

Binoculars, a pocket sized magnifying lens, and your favorite field guide(s) are recommended for all walks. Bring a lunch if you plan to stay all day (you don't have to stay for the entire walk), and always remember to pack plenty of water.

Most of the walks included in this schedule are moderately paced and cover fewer than three miles; walks that are longer or more strenuous are noted in the descriptions.

RAIN: On rainy days, most walks take place as scheduled. During extreme storms walks may be cancelled or modified for reasons of safety or comfort.

Street maps (AAA, Thomas Bros., etc.) are very helpful in locating meeting points. If you have questions or desire additional information, contact David Herlocker at: (415) 499-3647.

Ranger-led Events

Ranger-led Events (See POS Newsletter)

We welcome everyone to join us on these FREE, fun-filled adventures! Remember to dress for the outdoors and changeable weather.

Many outings include a lunch stop, so bring food and water as desired. Street maps (AAA, Thomas Bros., etc.) are very helpful in locating meeting spots. For additional information contact the District field office at (415) 507-2816.
