Old St. Hilary's
This preserve is the only place to see the extremely rare Tiburon jewelflower that
usually blooms in mid-May along the Vistazo Fire Road. Views from the top of
the hill (where the preserve adjoins the Tiburon Uplands County Park) are
fabulous.

The Ignacio Valley, Loma Verde and Pacheco Valle Open Space
Preserves form a contiguous band of undisturbed open space encompassing virtually the entire northern
slope of eastern Big Rock Ridge.

Ring Mountain
This windswept ridge high atop the Tiburon Peninsula is
truly one of the most valuable pieces of real estate on this planet. The unique
geology and microclimate of this location provide a home for a number of rare
plants.

Roy's Redwoods
Overlooking the heart of the beautiful San Geronimo Valley,
the Roy’s Redwoods Open Space Preserve is a perfect place to enjoy a brief
escape from the rigors of daily life.

Rush Creek
Perhaps the most popular asset of this 500-plus-acre preserve
is the adjacent wetlands, where shorebirds and waterfowl by
the thousands congregate each fall and winter. Outside of the
Point Reyes peninsula, this is one of the best birding locations
in the North Bay.

San Pedro Ridge
The north facing slopes of this preserve are heavily
forested with a mixture of oaks, bays, and madrones. Near the top are open
patches of grasslands that are dotted with wildflowers each spring.

Santa Margarita Island
Santa Margarita Island and Santa Venetia Marsh are popular
among local residents who wish to enjoy a walk or jog along a clear, level
path. Birdlife is abundant here; waterfowl cruise the channels at high tide,
while shorebirds and rails may be seen when the waters retreat.

Terra Linda/Sleepy Hollow
This large preserve protects the ridges that surround
several small communities in northern San Rafael. The area supports a mixture
of open grassland and broadleaf forests crisscrossed with fire roads and
trails.

Tiburon Ridge
This small preserve is perhaps the least used, but most
visible piece of land in the Open Space system. It sits above Highway 101 at
the western edge of the Tiburon Peninsula.

Verissimo Hills
This preserve in western Novato protects a ridge that runs between two developed
valleys. The habitats here are predominantly grassland mixed with oak/bay
woodlands.

White Hill
The highlight of the White Hill Preserve is the Blue Ridge
Fire Road, which passes over the summit of White Hill at an elevation of 1,430 feet. This fire road and the nearby
Wagon Wheel Trail pass through impressive stands of manzanita and chamise above
steep, rocky slopes.
