Who is Eligible to Purchase Voter Information
Voter information may be provided to a candidate for office, a ballot measure committee, or other persons for election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purposes as determined by the Secretary of State pursuant to Sec. 2194 of the California Election Code.
Commercial use of voter registration information is prohibited by law and is a misdemeanor.
Driver's licence, social security numbers, or signatures cannot be released for these purposes.
The only information that is available to the general public is the voter's name, status, registration date, registration number, political affiliation, and voting history. To access this information, you may come to the Elections’ Office in Room 121, Marin County Civic Center.
Applying to Purchase Voter Information
A legible copy of a valid ID is required for first time requests.
We accept payment by cash or check, payable to Elections Department, by mail or in person at our office.
