Project Description
The Vineyard Creek Improvement Project is located in Novato, California between
the end of Arbor Circle and McClay Road. This project has been undertaken to increase
flood conveyance, stabilize incised banks, and promote an ecologically healthy stream
corridor along the approximately 2500 ft reach of this Novato Creek tributary. Creek
corridor modifications will include reconfiguring the Center Road crossing to create a
free-span bridge. Engineered modifications to the bed and bank will eliminate erosion
risks to adjacent property, promote active channel conveyance of both water and sediment,
and provide improved in-stream habitat. The riparian corridor will be replanted to
provide a low density native under-story, "soft" bank erosion protection (where possible)
, and increased canopy.
