Last year, the Community Partners
of One Book One Marin - the County and City Public Libraries of Marin
County, Book Passage, Dominican University of CA, Marin Education Fund,
and the Marin History Museum - hosted more than 40 programs in 2008 around
the cultural and timely issues raised in selected author Amy Tan's book
"Saving Fish from Drowning".
On February 5, 2009 the Library will kick-off its 3rd year of engaging
Marin County residents to Read, Discuss, and Build Community
as part of the One Book One Marin
project:
Mr. Eggers' enthusiastic participation
in this initiative offers many opportunities for further outreach and programming.
Already high school educators are fitting the book into their year's curriculum
and engaging their students and their awareness of the timely issues raised
in the book. All events are free to the public; through the generosity of the
County Library, its Friends, other libraries, individuals, and organizations.
