Here's just some of the new features you'll want to be sure to check out later this month:

One World, Different Voices 2008

The Marin Literacy Program (MLP) is proud to announce the upcoming release of One World, Different Voices 2008, its annual book of student writings. Everyone's welcome to share in the celebration at BookPassage Thursday, September 4th, 6-8:30pm to hear students read.

Here's a small excerpt from the MLP Saturday Study Group: Sarah C, Beatriz G, Helen:

"We believe all would agree library is a wonderful knowledgeable world with plenty of helpful information for every one....In it our English is improving step by step; our lives are changing and getting better. All of us realized the benefit we got from the library. We couldn't help to shout in our minds, "Thank you library for changing our lives!"

Student Book

The Marin Literacy Program provides Marin County adults with free student-centered instruction in reading, writing and speaking to help them reach their full potential at work, at home, and in the community. For more information, please visit us on the web, or contact Dena Hermosilla Higgins, Development & Outreach, at 415-458-5042x2.

The Book Place

News from The Book Place

1608 Grant Avenue, Novato
415-209-0212

There are still some lazy summer days ahead--why not build up your reading stash? Bargain Sunday is August 3--and we're selling all regular-priced books for HALF-PRICE. You read right- all categories throughout the store will be on sale for one day only--noon to 4. The sale does not include newer items and individually-priced books (books with price stickers). But that leaves the majority of our inventory up for grabs! We're overloaded with donations (thank you) and we need to keep it moving. Pick up some great reads with pricing at $1.50 for hardcovers, down to 25 cents for the kids. This is a great opportunity to stock up! Don't miss it!

The Book Place is run by the knowledgeable volunteers of the Friends of the Marin County Free Library a nonprofit organization devoted to raising funds for the libraries. You can help by volunteering at the store, by becoming a member of the Friends and by donating books and buying books at The Book Place.

Our store hours are Tues/Thurs/Sat 10-4, Wed and Sun Noon-4, and Friday 10-7; we're closed Monday. For more information about the Friends and The Book Place, visit our website: http://marinlibraryfriends.marin.org.
