What's New On the Library
Website The Marin County Free Library now offers Rosetta
Stone Language Learning!
Discover a new way to English, French, Italian, Latin American Spanish,
and Mandarin Chinese that's easier than you could you imagine and works
without translation, memorization, or grammar drills.
This very popular online learning system can cost hundreds of dollars
for individual users, but as part of our extensive collection of eResources,
we're able to offer the program FREE to patrons within the
Marin County Free Library tax jurisdiction that have a valid, current
library card.
This innovative learning system involves a dynamic immersion method that combines
listening, viewing images, and reading text through an interactive software
application. With credit for correct answers and bleeps for wrong answers, it
is easy to stay focused and learn fast!
The library has begun a subscription to a set of consumer guides published by
TheStreet.com Ratings (formerly Weiss Ratings) that cover eight subject areas:
Automobile Insurance
Elder Care Choices
Homeowners Insurance
Long-Term Care Insurance
Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage
Medicare Supplement Insurance
Term Life Insurance
Variable Annuities
Each consumer guide describes the product or service, outlines factors to consider
when making a selection, and includes independent unbiased ratings of companies
in the field.
TheStreet.com Ratings: Consumer Guide box set is updated quarterly. The guides
are shelved as a box set on the library's Consumer Shelves and are available
for in-library use.
