Friends' Super Sale Nets More Than $16,000 for Library

When the dust settled after the Book Super Sale this March, the Friends of the Marin County Free Library found net proceeds exceeded $16,000. This isthe highest amount in the Sale's seven-year history.

Following the public sale, bulk sales and disbursement to pre-arranged buyers and charities cleaned up the rest. "Not a single book went into the dumpster," reports Ruth Arnold, Sale Chair. "Every book found a home."

Preliminary plans for the proceeds include an allocation for more books on CD, and replacement of worn children's picture books in county library branches. These two items in particular are very popular with library patrons, and continue to be among items people ask for most.

The Friends wish to thank all of you who attended and purchased books at the sale. We remind you also that you can find year-round deals at our retail outlet:
The Book Place
1608 Grant Avenue (near 7th Street)
Novato
Hours: Tues/Thurs/Sat 10-4; Wed/Sun noon-4, and Friday, 10-7; closed Mondays.

Bargain Sunday is June 3rd
Speaking of The Book Place, this month's Bargain Sunday is the Stock Up for Summer Reading Sale. Mystery paperbacks will be 4 for $1.00, and the hardcover editions are 50% off. Additionally, Biography, History and Romance categories are also 50% off. It's hard to let a sale like this go by, particularly with those long summer days and vacations coming up. Come on by and build up your stash!! Sunday hours are noon to 4 pm!

More Options to "Quick Search" the Online Catalog

Recent changes to our catalog have made it possible to search for recorded books in specific media formats.
Books on CD Books on CD and Books on Cassette are now separated into two categories. Patrons who only want one format will no longer have to look through the general audio category. Books on cassette
Other changes to Advanced Keyword Searching allow patrons to look for multiple formats or multiple locations at the same time...for instance, both DVDs and VHS choices in a single search or a specific title on the shelf at either Marin City or Corte Madera. To learn more about ways to search the Library's catalog and explore searching options by format & location, visit our Quick Search webpage.

New Music Downloads

Download music The Library's digital media collection, Overdrive, has recently expanded to include a selection of free music downloads. These additions highlight classical music titles from the Naxos label, such as Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker, the Brandenburg Concertos, and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Music from the collection may be downloaded in WMA format and played on your PC
during the time of the loan period (7 days) or may be transferred to compatible devices, such as MP3 players, laptops, Pocket PCs, and Palm OS devices.
