The Library's Facilities Master Plan is anticipated to form the foundation of
a future library building program for the expansion or replacement of existing
library facilities and library building projects for the next 20 years.
Our first round of meetings in January gathered input from the community.
A second round of community meetings in March presented draft recommendations
for services and options for facility improvements.
What's Ahead? . . .
Please join us at the last of our community meetings as we unveil the proposed
improvements and implementation strategies for the future of library services
in your area. All meetings start at 7 pm
The Library's Bookmobile recently installed an Internet satellite dish, allowing
real-time checkout, reservation requests, and patron record maintenance. Upgraded
technology now allows the Bookmobilist to search branch collections and locate
titles that can be delivered to patrons during a future visit.
The Bookmobile mobile library visits geographically isolated
communities throughout the County on a regular
schedule. Next time you see the Bookmobile in your neighborhood, make
a point to stop by and check out the wide selection of best-sellers, popular
fiction, mystery writers, audiobooks, children's materials, and more!
Live Homework Help is a free online program that connects 4th - 12th
graders and college intro students to tutors in math, English, social
studies and science. Students can access the service from home, everyday
1pm-10pm, through the Library's website. All it takes is a library card
& pin number.
Library cards are available free at local libraries and are also now available
online 24/7.
The Library conducted series of community meetings in March
to discuss draft recommendations for services and options for facility improvements.
A copy of each of these presentations is now available on our website in both
Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe PDF formats:
Every May, cycle enthusiasts join together for the national recognition of Bike
Month.
On Thursday, May 17th, tens of thousands of
residents from the Bay Area will ride together in celebration of Bike
to Work Day. Wednesday evening, May 23rd, Ranger Ali Golan of Marin
County's Open Space District, will host a five mile-ride ride to explore
the Old Railroad Grade, discuss local history and experience incredible
views. Others will pump up winter flats to ride with their children to school,
cross a new trail, or just peddle away from the rising price of gas. If
you're getting ready to ride this year, check out the Library's subject
guide, Lets
Go for A Bike Ride! Here you can find information on different types
of bicycles, tips on buying a bicycle, a list of books about bicycling at
the library, links to recommended websites, and more. Enjoy!
