The Marin County Free Library is in the midst of planning
short and long-term improvements to its facilities and services. A first
round of community meetings was held throughout the County in January to
gather input. A second round of meetings occurred in March to discuss draft
recommendations for services and options for facility improvements.
We hope you will join us for the final One Book One Marin events in April. Isabel Allende will
not only be our featured speaker at the final Spanish language event on April 17th and the final English
language event on April 20th, she is also making a surprise appearance at the Novato event on April 4th!

The California Digital Archive has a new photo album, too: Marin County during the 1920s
These images were taken by San Francisco photographers, Haydn Lothers and Ralph Young who had a studio at 165 Post Street. Highlights include the
Mill Valley train depot with the Mt. Tamalpais and Muir Woods Railroad; hikers on Mt. Tamalpais; Hotel Sausalito; San Rafael High School; Baltimore Park,
Larkspur; and Harlan Hall, Marin Junior College (now College of Marin).
MARINet has loaded the current version of the online catalog. The new version, called WebPAC Pro, sorts keyword search results by relevance. This means that a search for the word "bicycling", for example,
will show nonfiction books about bicycling first, with less relevant titles listed later. The user may re-sort by date or title, and subsequent searches will use that sort method.
WePAC Pro shows 50 items per page and offers patrons the option of rating books and other items. Civic Center Library Resource Guides

Jarhead

Why We Fight
Explores a half-century of U.S. foreign policy from World War II to the Iraq War, revealing how, as Dwight Eisenhower had warned in his 1961 Farewell Address, political and corporate interests have become alarmingly entangled in the business of war. On a deeper level, what emerges is a portrait of a nation in transition--drifting dangerously far from her founding principles toward a more imperial and uncertain future
