to the fun.

Kid's Corner (Thanks to Carolyn
Potter, Fairfax Library, for this month's list)
THE DACHSHUND - by EDWARD ANTHONY
Because I waddle when I walk
Should this give rise to silly talk?
That I'm ungainly? What's ungainly?
I'm really rather graceful -- mainly.
The experts have been known to state
That there's a twinkle in our gait.
One said "They have a clumsy grace,"
Which after all is no disgrace.
My funny features may abound:
Short legs, long body, low-to-ground,
But I'm about the perfect pal
For man or woman, boy or gal.
I'm gentle, very playful, kind.
I housebreak fast 'cause I'm refined.
I'm smart but never sly or foxy --
No, do not underrate the dachsie!
Circle Dogs
by Kevin Henkes
Circle dogs live in a square house with a square yard, eat circle snacks,
and dig circle holes.
The
Hallo-wiener by Dav
Pilkey
All the other dogs make fun of Oscar the dachshund until one Halloween when, dressed as a hot dog, Oscar bravely rescues the others.
It came from beneath the bed!
by James Howe
With help from his Uncle Harold, who wrote books about Bunnicula, Howie
the wire-haired dachshund writes a story in which he saves the world from
a science experiment gone awry.
Noodle
by Munro Leaf
When Noodle is granted a wish from the good dog fairy to be any size and shape desired, he decides to remain Noodle.
Pretzel
by Margret Rey
Pretzel finds that being the longest dachshund in all the world is not enough to win the favor of Greta, the little dachshund from across the street.
