Robert tells the story of early Novato and his family's involvement
in the Novato Land Company, later the Trumbull Ranch, which ran seven dairies,
with 1,000 milking cows, 500 acres of apple orchard and 500 acres of vineyards.
Robert's father was a Marin County Supervisor from 1946 to 1952, and a one-time
patriarch of Novato. Robert describes life as a boy on a big ranch. The
old ranch house, recently restored, was built in the 1860s by DeLong & Sweetser,
