Margaret is related by marriage to the John Nelson Family who built and ran the Olema Hotel from 1877 to 1942. Margaret recounts her experience from 1920 to 1923 as teacher of grades one through eight in the one-room Olema schoolhouse. For three years she boarded in the old hotel where she met her future husband, the grandson of John Nelson. She describes the old hotel and the Nelson family, her bedroom on the top floor, and the old Ford car that met the train each day.
