Katherine Solomons Lilienthal (1897-1993)

Katherine was born and raised in San Francisco, the daughter of successful attorney, Lucius Solomons. Her family purchased property in Larkspur for the construction of summer homes. Their acquaintance with the area’s prominent Jewish families lead to a marriage between Katherine and Arthur Gerstle Lilienthal, the son of Bertha Gerstle and John Leo Lilienthal. Katherine’s interview describes Marin County in the early twentieth century, mentioning landmarks such as Escalle’s; the Hills Boat House; and Violet Terrace, the Gerstles’ home in San Rafael.
