Edward L. Thompson (1906-1989)
Interview date: July 16, 1984
Edward L. Thompson Edward tells of his grandfather, Jefferson A. Thompson's, westward trip to Marin in 1864, and the subsequent purchase of the 700-acre ranch, which became the Marin Cheese Company, in 1865. Edward's cheese factory makes four varieties of Rouge et Noir cheeses, and produces 5,000 pounds of cheese every two days. Edward, a salesman, describes changes in the company, including instituting wine and cheese tastings, and an outdoor picnic area. At the time of this interview he lives on the ranch and is very active in the family business.
