Earl tells the story of his Swiss immigrant family, hard-working and well-educated, who have ranched in Marin since 1852. Each of Earl’s six siblings was given a dairy, and Earl himself was a successful rancher. Earl discusses both the joys and the disadvantages of modern ranching. He asserts that Marin County milk is exceptional due to the natural forage and mild climate. Earl concludes the interview with his views on the future of ranching in Marin.
