Interview date: July 26, 1976
Elizabeth Boyd Martha Elizabeth’s ancestors were pioneers who settled in San Rafael in 1869. Here, she recounts the journey of her maternal grandfather, John Verdenal, who traveled from St. Louis, Missouri to Placerville, California by covered wagon as a twelve-year-old. At the turn-of-the-century, her father, Thomas Patrick Boyd, served as the district attorney for Marin County. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley, Elizabeth recalls her experience as one of the first women in the securities business, in San Francisco.
