Alice, of Swiss-Italian descent, was born at Point Reyes Station and raised on a 1,212-acre dairy ranch, Ranch D, which housed 250 cattle. She tells of her life at Point Reyes, and her father, Quinto Codoni, who came to Tocaloma in 1872 and eventually became the chief hog and cattle buyer on the Point. Quinto was part owner of the schooner Point Reyes, which took a deck-load of 200 hogs to market in San Francisco. He was also Director and Vice President of the Bank of Tomales.
