four summer family programs at Hamilton.

Annual

Chapters should select one volunteer to be honored and provide names of
all volunteers who will receive certificates.
Sue Bigall is our choice of special volunteer.
j.
Following
discussion, it was m/s/c to delete membership levels on envelopes and just
provide dollar boxes. All groups will

4. Bike Rack: Cindy Winter stated that the money she had offered for a new bike rack is still available. More research is needed on the type and location in light of the ADA renovation that is needed at the entry to the library. Cindy will come back in two months.
5. Annette and Jan presented a letter written to Carol Starr, County Library Director, regarding the status of our garden. (Copy in secretary’s file.)
6.
Nancy
Davis, Branch Manager, reported that National Library Week begins April
18. Programs planned for the week
include “Let’s get digital”, Feng Shui for the garden and a contest in the
children’s room matching artifacts with books.
Nancy stated that $70,000 has been allocated to
investigate and fix the water intrusion problem in the children’s room. Any money not used for this purpose will go
into the carpeting fund. It was
stressed that the Friends need to be kept informed of what is being done in the
garden.
Pre-pay coin operated printers are being installed
in the libraries which should cut down on the amount of paper being
wasted. Corte Madera is a test site for
wireless access.
Staff is appreciative of the daily newspaper
rack. Weekly rack not yet received.
Nancy asked that Sarah Houghton be added to the
email list to receive minutes and she will post them on the web site.
One estimate has been received for carpeting the
meeting room - $3,100 to $4,600. Nancy
was asked to come back to us with an actual choice that will complement the new
chairs.
7. September Window Display: Brief discussion of a display in September focussed on what the Friends have done for Corte Madera – without the Friends the Library wouldn’t have new couches, new chairs, a redesigned garden, etc.
8. We do not
want to change the membership income split.
Because several people will be out of town on May
12, it was decided to meet in June instead so we can wrap up some of the
undecided items.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:10 A.M. Luncheon with staff followed.
Respectfully submitted,
Nancy A. Brooks, Secretary
PLEASE NOTE: THE FRIENDS WILL NOT MEET IN MAY. THE NEXT MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR JUNE 9, 2004.
