Minutes of the meeting of September 10, 2003, were approved.

Treasurer Jerri Ceschi sent an abbreviated financial report, indicating that there is a working capital of $12,445.53 in the Treasury.  Proceeds from the bookstore totaled $934.65 for May through August. Jan reported that in addition, a donation of $500 had been received.  Nancy reported that the Town Parks and Rec Commission had sent a check for $125 in sponsorship of a children’s program.

Used bookstore:  Sue reported that we have a new volunteer working at the store.  She said it has been very busy, some new people were coming in to the new location, and long-term customers were also continuing to come.

Branch activities:  Nancy said there was not much to report; early fall is traditionally a slow time in the library, but things were picking up as the school year got into full swing.

Discussion followed regarding the path and steps that were installed as part of the parking lot project.  There was general agreement that removal of the steps would be an unnecessary expense.

Nominations: Nancy joyfully reported from the nominating committee that Jan and Annette had agreed to share the presidency.  The nominees will be installed at the annual meeting.

Bicycle rack proposal:  Cindy Winter pledged $1,000 toward the purchase of a new bike rack.  She presented a packet of materials including possible racks and a memo with details on what is needed.  She will submit additional information from the Bicycle Coalition.  She plans a trip to New Zealand and will not be back until mid-March, but she left contact information and will also leave the name of someone else who could advise in this project.

Chairs: The group discussed the chairs that have been considered for purchase to replace the meeting room chairs. The three under consideration were in the same price range.

M/S/C spend up to $6,000 for meeting room chairs.

After further discussion regarding the choices, a motion was made.

M/S/C purchase Steelcase Player chairs (seen at AAA in Larkspur), check to make sure they will fit under the tables; the chair committee will select fabric and frame color.

Jan will come to the next meeting with a final price and fabric choices.

Future meetings: the November 12 meeting will be our annual meeting.  There will be a business meeting at 10 and the annual meeting and installation of officers at 11.  Annette and Nancy B. are working on refreshments.

Adjourn at 11:20.
