Who can access the Marin County Free Library's
Databases and eBooks Collections from home?
Marin County Free Library is a member of the MARINet cooperative system of both city and county libraries. MARINet libraries jointly subscribe to databases that all our patrons can access from home using a valid MARINet library card. For a list of the databases available to all MARINet patrons, click here.
Marin County Free Library also subscribes separately to additional databases. For a list of the databases available to MCFL patrons only, click here
A patron can access these independently owned resources from home only if he/she has a valid library card with the Marin County Free Library system assigned as the home library. A patron’s home library assignment is based on tax codes according to place of residence.
Remote access requires each user to enter his or her library card number and PIN.
If a person lives in Pt. Reyes and pays taxes based on a Pt. Reyes residence, he/she receives a library card with the home field assigned to Marin County Free Library and remote access privileges to the databases jointly owned by the MARINet system and Marin County Free Library’s separately owned databases.
If a person pays taxes based on a Belvedere residence, he/she receives a library card with the home field assigned to Belvedere and remote access privileges to MARINet databases and the Belvedere-Tiburon Library’s separately owned databases but not the databases owned independently by Marin County Free Library.
If you want to confirm the home library assigned to your library card and verify which databases you can access, please contact your local library for assistance.
