About the California Senior Legislature
The CSL is a shadow legislature of 80 Assembly Members and 40 Senators. Senior Legislators propose and debate bills related to the safety and well being of California’s seniors. These priorities are then considered by our regularly elected legislators. Many are formally introduced into their respective legislature. The term of office is four years, beginning in October.
Election Process
The next election of CSL representatives will be in April of 2014, by eligible voters of the Marin County Commission on Aging.
Candidate Eligibility
To be eligible to run for the California Senior Legislature, candidates must be age 60 or older at the time of the CSL election. In Marin County, Senior Legislators also become ex-officio members of the Marin County Commission on Aging with same rights and responsibilities as appointed commissioners.
