About The Department
The County Counsel serves as legal counsel in civil matters for all County departments, as well as some special districts. The duties of the office include preparing contracts, resolutions, and ordinances; filing and litigating civil cases; and rendering opinions on legal issues to departments.
In addition to the County Counsel, there is an Assistant County Counsel, two Chief Deputies, and ten full-time Deputy County Counsels. Our support staff is comprised of an Administrative Assistant, a Paralegal, five Legal Secretaries, a Probate Specialist and our Grand Jury liaison.
