| PURPOSE/DUTIES: The Commission’s role is advisory to the Board of Supervisors. The Commission handles complaints, problems and requests for assistance involving violations of human or civil rights from individuals and groups. It investigates, studies and initiates action to resolve problems. The Commission has responsibility for working to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and for fostering attitudes which will lead to civic peace and inter-group relations. |

| TERM LENGTH: 4 years |

| NUMBER OF MEMBERS: Nine: one representative is appointed by the Board of Supervisors from each Supervisorial district, and four appointments are from the county at large. |

| REIMBURSEMENTS FOR EXPENSES/PER DIEM: Commissioners shall be reimbursed for reasonable and necessary mileage and travel expense incurred in the course of duty, in accordance with laws and regulations pertaining to county officers and employees. |

| TIME AND DAY OF MEETINGS: The second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
