The Marin County Department of Public Works, Waste Management Division is responsible for solid waste collection and diversion, coordination of household Hazardous Waste disposal, inspects hazardous materials/waste sites within all areas of the County and provides staff to the Marin County Hazardous and Solid Waste Joint Powers Authority.

Solid and Household Hazardous Waste Programs
Waste Management provides staff support to the Marin County Solid and Hazardous Waste Joint Powers Authority (JPA). The City of Novato implements its own HHW program in conjunction with Novato Sanitary District.

Additionally, the Waste Management Division of Public Works administers solid waste franchises with several garbage collection haulers in the unincorporated areas of Marin County.
