The Division of Aging and Adult Services supports a variety of services that are provided by a network of local non-profit organizations and governmental agencies throughout Marin County.
Area Agency on Aging
Governed by guiding framework put forth in the Older Americans Act and Older Californians Act with funding administered through the California Department of Aging.
Long-Term Care Ombudsman
Monitoring the care of people in long-term residential care homes or nursing facilities.
Chronic Disease Prevention Program
Uses public health nurses to aid residents in staying independent in their homes, rather than having to move to a nursing home.
Project Independence
Advocacy and support for persons who are transitioning from hospital discharge to independence at home.
Public Guardian
Conducts official investigations into conservatorship matters, and serves as the legally appointed guardian for persons, who have been determined by the Courts to be incapable of caring for themselves.
In-Home Supportive Services(IHSS)
Domestic and personal care services for elderly and disable adults so that they can remain safely in their own homes.
Veteran Services
Helps veterans, their spouses and children obtain all types of veterans benefits.

Answer calls from the public regarding the full range of social services and related resources available to Marin county residents.
