What is a Social Marketing Campaign?
Social Marketing seeks to change behavior by applying the principles of commercial marketing to influence the voluntary behavior of target audiences. Our social marketing campaign, Feel the Difference! Eat Healthy! Be Active! , is data-driven, audience-focused, culturally competent and designed to produce measurable results by encouraging community members to adopt healthy habits.
How does the Nutrition Wellness Program use Social Marketing?
We're working to “turn the curve” on obesity by promoting healthy nutrition, physical activity and community well-being. A component of the campaign is an interactive education exhibit, Planet Health , which features games and colorful posters to teach children about 7 Healthy Habits and provides information to all age groups about choosing healthy foods, tips for snacking, ideas to help people increase physical activity and current topics of interest to promote eating healthy and being active. In addition, our website, quarterly Feel the Difference!newsletters, Fast Facts bulletins, posters, and other promotional materials have been developed to support the social marketing campaign.
Eat A Rainbow of Fruits and Vegetables is an early childhood and elementary school campaign that trains teachers, childcare providers, and parents, through interactive activities and taste testing, to promote the healthy habit of feasting on fresh produce and how to pack a healthy lunch.
