Physical Activity Resources

The Nutrition Wellness Program promotes both eating healthy and being physically active every day. This section provides the following information pertaining to physical activity:

2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans
This document is intended to be a primary source of information for policy makers, physical educators, pub health physical activity specialists, health providers and the public on the amount, types, and intensity of physical activity needed to achieve many health benefits. A 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Toolkit for organizations and communities has also been developed. For more information go to http://www.health.gov/paguidelines/

Physical Activity Resources in Marin
This is a list of contacts and resources in Marin that offer various aspects of physical activity. Some of the community organizations listed are members of our Marin Wellness Collaborative whose mission is to promote physical activity and healthy choices for Marin County residents and help to achieve the goal of every Marin resident to eat healthy foods and be physically active.

LIFT for Teens
LIFT for Teens' unique offering provides a comprehensive program of fitness, nutrition and lifeskills mentoring for overweight and unfit children who do not have access to the resources to overcome their health challenges. Local children, teens and their families will regularly interact with our supportive, qualified and well-trained staff while learning how to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
