Mission Statement
The mission of the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services Nutrition Wellness Program is to promote healthy eating and physical activity in a community where the environment and policies promote life-long health, reaching out to schools, agencies and organizations serving low-income communities, with technical support, nutrition and fitness resources, policy development, and “best practices” information around nutrition education and physical activity. Just Imagine It!
Imagine your neighborhood…as you would like it to be. It has safe parks and playgrounds for the entire family to enjoy, with attractive places to walk and ride bicycles. Down your street and around the corner there's a farmer's market and a new neighborhood store, and both are selling fresh, affordable fruits and vegetables.
But don't stop imagining…there's more. You and your neighbors are so concerned about healthy living that you have inspired nearby churches, worksites and community organizations to have healthy snacks in vending machines and to serve only nutritious food at special events and activities. Your schools are encouraging healthy eating and increased physical activity for the students, and you and other parents have just started an evening nutrition and cooking class along with their children. You can't wait for the next one.
Now…stop imagining and let's help make it a reality. If you would like to learn more about making your neighborhood a healthier place to live, please contact:
