Community Events
Community organizations that partner with Nutrition Wellness
Program to create a healthier Marin also sponsor a variety of events throughout
the year. Click

The Nutrition Wellness Program works with the Healthy
Marin Partnership, which sponsors the Health Pavilion at the annual Marin
County Fair. Because of the collaboration between Marin Department
of Health and Human Services' “Play Fair” sponsorship and efforts by the
Healthy Marin Partnership, the Fair no longer depends on financial sponsorship
of the alcohol beverage industry. In addition, the Nutrition Wellness
Program works with the Healthy Marin Partnership and fair vendors to produce
a guide that promotes healthy eating at the fair and helps fairgoers make
healthy food choices while enjoying the event.
University of California Cooperative Extension sponsors 4-H Farm Day, an annual event that introduces Marin County school children to the wealth of agricultural resources our county enjoys. Farm Day is also an opportunity for young people involved in the 4-H program to demonstrate what they've learned. The Nutrition Wellness Program, in collaboration with American Cancer Society, hosts an exhibit and interactive games that center around the importance of eating healthy and being active.
Farmers' Markets held throughout our county, help Marin County residents gain access to fresh, healthy affordable fruits and vegetables and support local farmers in our community and the Bay Area.
