ABOUT US - MEET THE STAFF
ROCHELLE EREMAN
Rochelle Ereman, MS, MPH has dedicated the past 20 years of her career serving women and children in the health field, working primarily in the area of prevention of illness and disease. Currently, she is the head of the Community Epidemiology Program at the County of Marin Department of Health and Human Services. During her tenure as Marin County’s Community Epidemiology Program Chief, she has managed the first county-wide health survey, worked to improve data surveillance for the Health Division, and directed breast cancer research projects for the County. She is currently the Principal Investigator of the Department of Health & Human Services breast cancer research project, the Marin Women's Study. Prior to her work in the Community Epidemiology Program she served as the Maternal and Child Health Director for Marin County for 4 years. She has conducted clinical research in the area of human lactation at the University of California at Davis, ran 3 prenatal clinics in Yolo County, and was an associate lecturer at the University of California at Davis in Community Nutrition. Her current research is focused on the epidemiology of breast cancer in Marin County, an area with historically elevated incidence rates, and the translation of epidemiologic concepts to the community. When not creating graphs, Rochelle enjoys mountain biking, hiking and backpacking.
LEE ANN PREBIL
Lee Ann Prebil, PhD, is an Epidemiologist for the County of Marin. She has been working for the health department for 7 years, and for the Community Epidemiology Program for 4 years, where she has focused on breast cancer. Lee Ann earned her PhD in Epidemiology at UC Berkeley. Her major interests are in women's health, nutrition, and the translation of research findings into public health practice. Lee Ann’s favorite pastime is playing with her adorable children and spending time with her four sisters.
KARINA ARAMBULA
Karina Arámbula, MPH is an Epidemiologist for the Marin County Department of Health and Human Services. She received her Master's of Public Health in 2007 from the University of California, Berkeley where in addition to a focusing on epidemiology and statistics, she was a co-investigator on an award winning multidisciplinary study that explored individual and community pathways and barriers to health. Prior to her epidemiological work for the county, Karina completed an undergraduate degree in Human Biology at Stanford University and was recruited to work in clinical research for the Stanford University Medical School where she managed dermatology clinical research trials. Her professional interests include cancer epidemiology, health disparities, and preventive health. In her spare time, Karina enjoys reading, cooking, and traveling with her new husband Andy.
ELIZABETH LEVIN
Elizabeth Levin, MPH, in an Epidemiologist with Marin County Department of Health and Human Services. Her work primarily focuses on surveillance of chronic diseases, births, deaths, and health behaviors to identify changes in the Health of Marin residents, and to identify health disparities and risk factors for poor health. Prior to her work with Marin County, Elizabeth completed a two-year fellowship with the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention at the Georgia Division of Public Health where her work primarily focused on chronic disease and youth risk behavior epidemiology. Elizabeth earned her MPH in Epidemiology at the University of Michigan. When outside the office, she enjoys traveling, hiking, biking, and sailing.
MARK POWELL
Mark has been working with the Marin County Department of Health & Human
Services for the past 6 years studying breast cancer in Marin. His research
with the epidemiology program has included exploring the connection between
breast cancer rates and socioeconomic status, studying known risk factors,
and improving the methods of determining the risk status of individual women.
Mark has been working on expanding the utility of saliva for breast cancer
research and has supervised the establishment and maintenance of the Biorepository
of the Marin Women's Study. Dr. Powell is board-certified in internal medicine
and received his M.P.H. in Environmental Health Sciences from UC Berkeley.
DEBORAH GALLAGHER
Deborah Gallagher, MPH is an Epidemiologist with Marin County Department
of Health and Human Services. She is responsible for HIV/AIDS surveillance.
Deborah has a BS in Microbiology from UC Davis and spent 3 years working
in pharmaceutical research. While earning her MPH from UC Berkeley, she
worked for the California Department of Public Healths STD Control
Branch analyzing hospital discharge data as an alternative surveillance
method for neonatal herpes. Her professional interests include infectious
diseases and their impact on populations. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling
and spending time with her family.
