  VOLUNTEER AT THE MARIN CENTER

Volunteers are essential to the success of Marin Center, Marin County Fair and Visitor Services. Marin Center's treasured volunteers act as ambassadors. They provide valuable services for patrons as ushers, office assistants, gift shop staff, and County Fair staff. We have opportunities for those who like to work with people and those who want to work behind the scenes to provide Marin Center patrons and visitors with the best service and the finest cultural arts and events.

Ushers
Volunteer ushers enhance Marin Center's customer service and help make sure the show goes on. Ushers perform many duties including taking tickets, handing out programs, showing patrons to their seats, and seating latecomers. They are often able to see performances at which they work. Our incredible 138 volunteer ushers contributed 6,200 hours to Marin Center last year!

Office
Office staff perform a variety of duties that give them an inside look at Marin Center's operations. From reception duties to clerical tasks, volunteers greet the public, support the staff and make Marin Center run smoothly. Inge Rosenthal and Dolly Dohn, both of San Rafael, volunteer weekly in the Marin Center office. "For me, volunteering gives me great satisfaction. I love working with people and helping my community," says Inge, who has been an active volunteer at Marin Center for 14 years.

Gift Shop
Gift shop volunteers interact with the public, promoting the Marin County Civic Center and selling merchandise. The gift shop is the place that visitors can find a souvenir, historical information about the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and perhaps gain a new understanding of the heritage of this world-famous landmark.

Marin County Fair
The award-winning Marin County Fair is a showcase of local creativity and enterprise. Each year, volunteers help plan, set up and staff the Fair. Their talents and energy make the Marin County Fair the community celebration of the summer. In 2006, 280 volunteers contributed 2,400 hours in service to the county fair.
For over thirty years, Marin Center has been highly regarded for the quality of its performing arts, civic and cultural events. Marin Center is dependent upon community involvement. Volunteers help reduce labor costs and enhance the quality of service. If you enjoy meeting people, are enthusiastic about the performing arts and are interested in contributing to the success of Marin Center or the Marin County Fair, then volunteering might be perfect for you. Come be part of the fun-be a volunteer! For more information, call Marion Boyd at 415.473.6400.
