Standing Ovations
Smarter Energy: Infotility, Inc. of Novato launched the US Department of Energy (DOE) GridAgentsSmartGrid
Demonstration Project at the Marin County Civic Center and Marin Center on October 30.
Harnessing the Wind: The 30-foot tall Mariah Windspire wind turbine, located in the circular planter at the entrance to
the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium, is now plugged in with PG & E and generating electricity to power the nearby exterior
lighting at this performing arts center.
Brighter Perspectives: With the generous support of Nick Kunst and Kunst Brothers painting contractors of San Rafael, the
lobbies and orchestra shell of the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium were painted recently. And thanks to the leadership of
Henry Moody and John Pitcairn, both of Ross, new LED theatrical lighting will be in use onstage and off for upcoming performances,
offering spectacular and color-themed effects.
Path of Travel - Exhibit Hall Building: Guests arriving at events at the Exhibit Hall, Showcase Theatre and Meeting Rooms
will notice the construction work underway to transform access into this venue starting in January.
Honoring Marin Veterans: Led by Joe Garbarino Jr. and Mario Ghilotti, both of San Rafael, and Marin County United Veterans'
Council, plans are underway for a new monument to honor Marin's fallen soldiers in the post Vietnam era. This new monument will be
unveiled as part of the 2010 Memorial Day ceremony at the Avenue of the Flags.
Where Local + Global Meet: For 21 seasons Marin Center Presents has brought performing artists and companies to the stage
of the Marin Veterans' Memorial Auditorium from around the world. We are excited to now bring global connections to the 2010
Marin County Fair.
