Directed by Pupi Avati, who was nominated at the Venice Film
Festival for the Golden Lion, this 2008 drama won Silvio Orlando
the Little Golden Lion, the Pasinetti Award and the Volpi Cup as
Best Actor. Beginning in Bologna in 1938, this story of
Giovanna and her devoted father, Michele, takes a startling turn
when jealousy takes its toll. This father-daughter relationship
endures through the years, despite unfortunate circumstances.
Fifteen years later, a chance encounter in a dark movie theater
dramatically alters Giovanna’s life and the lives of her family.
In Italian with English subtitles and suggested for mature
audiences. Tickets go on sale August 31.
