DIRECTOR'S LETTER
Happy New Year!
Marin Center's 40th Anniversary Season Moves into 2012
We're in the middle of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Marin Center. Some "don't miss" highlights for the coming months
include hilarious humorist Lewis Black and legendary comic Jonathan Winters, stage and film star Debbie Reynolds, and The Romeros,
known as the "Royal Family of Guitar."
This season we are presenting outstanding artists from every corner of the globe: Japan's dazzling drummers, TAO; Russia's
spectacular Red Army Chorus and Dance Ensemble; and Ireland's classical pop vocalists, The Celtic Tenors.
I'm especially thrilled that guitar icon Peter Frampton is returning here for a historic concert celebrating Frampton Comes Alive!,
one of the top-selling live recordings of all time. Songs on this album were actually recorded at the Marin Veterans' Memorial
Auditorium back in 1975! I was the head usher then and have fond memories of seeing Frampton in concert just before he went on to
become a superstar. In May, Alasdair Neale leads the Marin Symphony in the premiere of Golden Gate Opus by Robert Kapilow. This
new commissioned work will honor the 75th anniversary of the opening of the Golden Gate Bridge.
The beloved Marin County Fair returns over the July 4th weekend with the theme Always Fresh, Fun & Local, celebrating the
legacy and future of Marin's vibrant agricultural community.
Preview the Fair's exciting exhibits and concerts.
The Marin County Fair is all about participation and sharing your talents. Creativity is encouraged and imagination is celebrated!
We invite you to enter one (or more) of the many exhibit categories, including new ones from scarecrows to market pigs.
