Marin Agriculture's gross product value is about $52 million a year: 61% Diary, 20% Beef , 14% hay, silage, and row crops, and 5% aquaculture. Marin has primarily grazing agriculture because of our maritime climate and hilly terrain. Fifty percent of Marin's land is in productive agriculture. The economic value of Marin's agriculture goes well beyond the dollar value of the products. The farm and food related jobs created by agriculture multiply by 3 or 4 times the gross product value. Marin's farms also attract visitors and residents because they are a large part of what makes up the scenic beauty and environmental quality of the county.
