About the
Sustainability Team

Since 2001, the County of Marin Sustainability Team has been working to support healthy, safe and sustainable communities while preserving Marin’s unique environmental heritage. Housed in the County’s Community Development Agency, the team has developed programs to promote renewable energy, tackle climate protection, encourage green building, certify green businesses and implement energy efficiency in County schools, cities and special districts. Their dedication shows in a list of accomplishments ranging from setting a countywide target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in 2001, to certifying their 250th green business in April of 2008. The policies and programs they have developed will ensure that the County of Marin is healthy, vibrant and sustainable for many generations into the future.

Our work reflects the County's mission statement:
"The mission of the County of Marin is to provide excellent services that support healthy, safe and sustainable communities; preserve Marin's unique environmental heritage; and encourage meaningful participation in the governance of the County by all."
