Financing Options
A variety of loan products are available to finance energy and other green building upgrades, and new financing products are in development.
Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) affiancing was developed to allow residential and commercial property owners to finance energy improvements and then pay back those loans over a period of years through an annual assessment on their property tax bill.
As of Summer 2010, PACE programs have been suspended due to restrictive lending guidelines issued by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The County, legislators and others are currently working to resolve this impasse. More information will be provided on this website when available.
A one-stop financing clearinghouse for alternative financing is available on www.EnergyUpgradeCA.org and provides information on lenders and financing opportunities.
