December 2005 Newsletter
Dear Citizens,
Happy New Year! May 2006 be even better than 2005 for you and yours.
While flooding and mud has us all very busy right now, I want to assure you that community service and projects to support our larger vision for sustainability are off to strong starts over my first year in office. While I’m impatient for more and faster results, I must admit that for government, things are moving well so far at Marin County.
Larger goals for 2006 include:
Protecting habitat and open space
Implementing Measure A projects such as shuttles and bus transit, and finalizing the analysis of rail, to reduce auto dependency via a choice of alternatives
Improve bicycle and pedestrian routes and safety, with the goal of removing vehicle congestion
Revising the Muir Woods Shuttle for next summer’s test
Exploring implementation of new energy management system called Aggregation, for dramatic increase in use of renewable power sources
Identifying more good infill location for mixed use projects and affordable housing
Strengthening our economy via focus on businesses that can grow and thrive here in Marin
Finalizing our Countywide Plan
Implementing more green building and projects to green County operations and policy It is a pleasure to work for you and to continue making Marin a better and greener place over time. Thank you for the privilege of serving in this office.
