DAllowed Pesticide List - Under Development

Allowed Pesticide List - Under Development
(a complete list of pesticides allowed for use will be developed in early 2010 and reviewed with the IPM Commission prior to adoption by the Board of Supervisors)

The County IPM ordinance prohibits the use of Catergory I and II pesticides and it is an additional goal of the County to minimize the use of Category III pesticides by giving preference to Eco-exempt products and those approved by the Organic Materials Research Institute (OMRI) or by the National Organic Program for use in organic systems as available and effective.

A note about use restrictions:

Materials that do not meet the IPM Ordinance criteria will be used only when a thorough analysis of available alternatives indicates the necessity for their limited use. These materials will be used only under a Limited Use Exemption, and only when directly approved by the IPM Coordinator.

A note about signal words:

The signal word is determined by the most severe toxicity category assigned to the five acute toxicity studies (acute oral, acute dermal, acute inhalation, primary eye irritation, primary skin irritation) or by the presence of methanol in concentrations of 4% or more. The signal words are as follows:

Danger: Highly toxic and Severely irritating
Warning: Moderately toxic and Moderately irritating
Caution: Slightly toxic and Slightly irritating
