Results of the 2009 County Community Satisfaction Survey and Countywide Employee Survey
2009 County Community Satisfaction Survey
The County of Marin recently conducted the 2009 community satisfaction survey this spring. The survey results,
which were presented to the Marin County Board of Supervisors on April 14, 2009, indicated a high level of overall
satisfaction as 86 percent of residents were satisfied with County's performance in providng programs and services. The survey, which is conducted every
two years, also pointed out highlighted specific services with high importance and satisfaction ratings and pointed
out areas for improvement.
The results of the 2009 survey will be analyzed to assess the public’s perception of County services compared
with the previous survey in 2007. The County will also communicate the survey results in the County's next
edition of the report to the community in 2008.
The community survey was conducted using a random telephone sample of county residents and included 750
responses. Approximately 150 respondents were from each of the five supervisorial district to ensure a balance
of respondents from across the county. The survey results and County news release are available below.
2009 Countywide Employee Survey
The County recently conducted its second Countywide Employee Survey. The purpose of the survey was to get employee feedback on a range of issues, including work environment, employee support and training, leadership and management, communication, and other areas. We also wanted to assess changes in these issues since the initial survey was conducted in 2006. Over 1,200 employees completed the survey for an overall response rate of 50%, which is a strong response for a comprehensive survey such as ours.
We recently presented the countywide results to the Board of Supervisors and want to communicate the results to County employees. Overall, the results are positive and indicate the County is continuing to move in the right direction despite the economic uncertainly we currently face. The results improved from the 2006 survey in a number of areas, particularly in the work environment both countywide and the departmental level. The results also indicate areas we need to continue improving, such as dealing with problem employees at all levels and our performance review process.
Below are links to a summary presentation of the survey results as well as the topline report of the countywide results. The County Administrator’s Office and the Human Resources Department will work with County departments to review and use the results to continue improving our organization in these challenging times. Thank you for the strong response to the survey and for your continued service to our organization. Please contact Matt Bronson at 499-3084 or mbronson@co.marin.ca.us if you have any questions about the survey results.
