Department of Finance
The Director of Finance is an appointed position. As the chief fiscal officer of the County for accounting and disbursing of funds, the Director of Finance maintains the accounts of County government, the county’s school districts, and most of the dependent and independent special districts within Marin County. The Director of Finance also administers the County’s major financial, budgetary, payroll, fixed asset and tax apportionment systems. |

The mission of the Department of Finance is to serve the Marin County community by providing excellent and
responsive fiscal leadership, advocating financial integrity and accountability
in county government through the monitoring and reporting of financial
performance, promoting economy and efficiency, safeguarding public funds,
and fulfilling the many legal mandates of the office.
