TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is one of our County's most important issues, impacting the quality of
life of nearly every Marin resident. I am fortunate to serve in a number of positions that can help to lead Marin to
a better future, most notably as Vice-Chair of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and as Chair
of the Marin County Congestion Management Agency. I believe that we are at a crossroads in Marin's
future - the time for change is now. For more information about MTC see my recent

The Metropolitan Transportation
Commission is the regional transportation planning agency for the nine Bay Area Counties
The Congestion Management
Agency is spearheading a comprehensive planning effort to identify Marin's transportation needs and
priorities to facilitate funding of projects

The West Marin Stage - Creating
a unique pilot transit system for West Marin
Novato Narrows -
a top priority project to widen Highway 101 between Novato and Petaluma
Novato Landfill overpass - putting an end to a highly dangerous intersection on Highway 101

Bicycle transportation advocate - All modes will be important as we move forward to improve
transportation in Marin (link to staff report on Alto Hill and to Bike and Ped MP)
Marin
County Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan
Roads
District Four has over 90% of Marin County's roads, and as a result I work closely with the Department
of Public Works. My office is pleased to serve as a resource on roads related issues. Key projects include
repair of White's Hill, a project estimated to cost $6 million.
Past Local Road Issues
Flood control project/Lucky Drive
Levee - termination of the effort to provide flood control in the area around Highway 101 near Lucky
Drive
Provided funding and assistance with ID program for Go-Geronimo
Initiated a Federal Lands Highway grant application leading to funding of Sir Francis Drake improvements
within the Point Reyes National Seashore
Authorized pilot speed bump program
Assisted communities in Bolinas and Inverness in formation of "road divisions" to repair local roads.
Facilitated funding for the repair of Arroyo Bridge in Lagunitas
Authorized emergency road repairs on Sir Francis Drake and Balboa in Inverness during and after the
storms of the Winter of 97/98
Provided a pump, and initiated flood control projects at Pacific Way in Muir Beach, and continuing
to work to solve long-term drainage problems off Hwy 1
|
